Upgrade Osclass

Keeping your Osclass installation up to date ensures your website remains secure, compatible with the latest technologies, and benefits from new features and improvements. This guide explains how to check for updates and upgrade Osclass safely.

Checking for Updates

Osclass automatically checks for new versions and notifies administrators when an update is available. To check for updates manually, navigate to:

Osclass Backoffice > Tools > Upgrade

Upon checking for updates, you will see a message similar to the following:

Current version: 8.2.1
Congratulations! Your Osclass installation is up to date!

If a new version is available, you will be prompted to upgrade.

Auto-Upgrade Osclass

Osclass supports an automated upgrade process to simplify keeping your classifieds script up to date.

Important: Before performing an upgrade, it is highly recommended to create a backup of your database and files.

Steps to Auto-Upgrade:

  1. Go to Tools > Upgrade Osclass in the Osclass admin panel.
  2. If a new version is available, click the Upgrade Now button.
  3. Wait for the upgrade process to complete.
  4. Once finished, clear your cache to ensure changes take effect.

During the upgrade process, Osclass will download and install the latest version while keeping your settings, listings, users, and other data intact.

Manual Upgrade

If you prefer a manual upgrade or the auto-upgrade fails, follow these steps:

Steps for Manual Upgrade:

  1. Download the latest Osclass version from the official website.
  2. Extract the ZIP file.
  3. Using an FTP client, upload and replace the following directories:
    • oc-admin
    • oc-includes
  4. Do not overwrite the oc-content folder, as it contains themes, plugins, media files, and translations.
  5. Navigate to yourdomain.com/oc-admin, and you will be prompted to update your database if necessary.
  6. Click Upgrade Now to complete the process.
  7. Clear your cache and check your website functionality.

Best Practices for Upgrading

  • Backup your site before upgrading. This ensures you can restore your site in case of any issues.
  • Test the update in a staging environment. If possible, test the upgrade on a local or test server before applying it to your live website.
  • Check compatibility of themes and plugins. Ensure that your installed themes and plugins support the latest Osclass version.
  • Clear cache after upgrading. This prevents old files from interfering with new updates.
  • Monitor your site after upgrading. Check for any errors or issues and resolve them promptly.

Summary

Upgrading Osclass is crucial for maintaining security, performance, and access to new features. Osclass provides an easy auto-upgrade option, but users can also upgrade manually if needed. Always ensure you have a backup before proceeding with any upgrade to avoid data loss.
